these resto destos save you from post-holiday boredom, just in time. find an empanada empire, have a bon soiree and mark where X meets the spot with our list of this month's eats.

bon soiree.
soiree bar & bistro serves up class french fare in a dramatic interior. red velvet curtains, red-hued lights and intimate booths resemble moulin rouge-era bars and brasseries. feast on rich escargots and frog legs in cremini mushroom sauce. for ultimate richness, try the trio of filet mignons (peppercorn-crusted, bacon-wrapped and roquefort-doused). now open. 2438 north lincoln avenue. at fullerton. 773.477.8880. www.soireebarbistro.com

park it.
this soon-to-open river north resto takes power dinners and lunches to the next level. jackson park bar and grill is a 9,000-square-foot from chef and co-owner jason paskewitz. expect contemporary spins on classics like spaghetti bolognese. pair it with a wine selection by former charlie trotter sommelier robert houde. opens late february. 444 north wabash street. at hubbard. 312.644.7200. www.jacksonparkbarandgrill.com

silly rabbit.
at jack rabbit, exec chef alan pirhofer will serve up southwestern fare hailing from new mexico, arizona and texas. think duck fajitas, bacon-wrapped pork, chili-crusted rib eye, and cumin-dusted fried plantains for starters. a little touch-up to the inside here and there, and they're sure to shake things up. opens mid-february. 4603 north lincoln avenue. near west wilson. 773.989.9000.

X meets the spot.
popular west town spot sushi X comes to lincoln park. fave rolls like the pollo loco with panko-crusted chicken, and the thai stick with green curry, shrimp and bamboo shoots will be on the menu. look for more of the same look too: anime projected on the walls, and simple silver décor. opens mid-february. 543 west diversey parkway. near north cambridge. no phone yet. www.sushi-x.net

peace out.
piece out has finally opened in wicker park in the former lille gallery. the counter-only storefront has its own separate kitchen, meaning reduced wait times compared to its sister resto, piece. walk-in customers can get a look at the stainless-steel brewing tanks filled with house brewmaster jonathon cutler's ever-changing concoctions. half-gallon "growlers" (jugs of beer) are avail to take-out customers only. now open. 1923 west north avenue. at damen. 773.772.4422.

empanada empire.
know that crispy, doughy treat you love to eat? now there's a place solely for the south american bites and their lovers. lito's empanadas in lincoln park is a tiny storefront with barely enough seats for eating-in. no matter. these colombian treats can easily be eaten on the go. for just $2 a pop. now open. 2566 north clark street. at wrightwood. 773.857.1337.

peckat pizza.
chris peckat opens purgatory pizza next door to his resto, risqué. think super thin, crispy crust pizza plus homemade pasta and sauces made from his native-italian mother's recipes. the look inside? it's as red as the devil. opens mid-february. 3415 north clark. at roscoe. 773.975.6677.
