have your wintertime feast and eat it too. expect the reel deal, get risqué and taka the time to enjoy this list of december resto picks:

you're hired.
sixteen finally opens in december after months of dealing with the donald. trump, that is. chef frank brunacci clocked time in london and new orleans, and now brings jameson farm lamb chops, turkish apricot-stuffed pork loin and illinois sweet corn ravioli to chicago. all in a dramatic dining room overlooking the city. opens late december. 401 north wabash avenue. at the river. 312.924.7600.

the reel deal.
hungry after all that holiday shopping? oak brook center's got a brand new bag with reel club. another mega resto from lettuce entertain you, this 225-seater is a dressed-up seafood spot headed up by chef mychal bonner (of di pescara). gobble up goods like maine lobster, alaskan king crab and dry-aged steaks. the wine's just as much of a star here (with a "hot 40 list") hand-picked by celeb sommelier alpana singh. now open. 225 oakbrook center drive. at hodges. 630.368.9400.

taka this.
chef takashi yagihashi, who rose to stardom at the beloved ambria, returns with takashi. expect his famous noodles, plus french- and american-style entrees melded with japanese flavors and ingreds. clay pot org chicken and orange-marinated red snapper wrapped in seaweed leaves are sure to be standouts. opens late december. 1952 north damen avenue. at homer. no phone yet.

how risqué.
meritage café might be heading out, but owner chris peckat has something else up his sleeve. the soon-to-open risqué café in wrigleyville gets its name from more than the resto's pin-up posters. "naked" meats make up the menu, meaning smoked brisket and ribs, with only a hint of sauce. wash it down with one of the hundred or so craft beers on tap and bottle. opens late december. 3419 north clark street. at newport. no phone yet.

mama mia.
macello joins the ranks of recently opened pie-friendly places. this joint is a nod to traditional, puglia-style pizza. think a crispy, but slightly chewy and smoky crust topped with rich and creamy mozzarella. add delicacies like prosciutto and softened arugula, and you're in for a treat. a take-out deli showcases imported artisan cheeses, breads, salumi and olives. now open. 1235 west lake street. at north racine. 312.850.9870.
